On July 8, a solemn ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War was held at the IPEC Center in Las Vegas.
The event was co-hosted by the Korean American Association of Las Vegas (President Alex Kim) and the Southwest Las Vegas Chapter of the Korean Veterans Association. Approximately 300 Korean Americans and local residents gathered to pay tribute and reflect together.
Among the attendees were nine U.S. Korean War veterans, seven South Korean veterans, and three widows of fallen soldiers, whose presence made the occasion even more meaningful. In particular, five veterans from the Western U.S. Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association of the Republic of Korea traveled from California to join the ceremony. Members of the KWVA (Korean War Veterans Association, USA) were also present, leaving a strong impression with their dignified appearance.
Despite their advanced age, the three widows in attendance received heartfelt applause and respect throughout the event.
Dignitaries including the Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, a U.S. Representative, and the Korean Veterans Affairs Consul attended to honor the sacrifices and service of the veterans. Leaders from the Korean American community and heads of local organizations were also present, adding further significance to the ceremony.
