
The 72nd Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice was solemnly held on July 25 at the U.S. 40th Infantry Division Headquarters (Joint Forces Training Base) in California. The event was co-hosted by the LA Chapter of the Korea Army Association (President Choi Man-kyu) and the LA Chapter of the U.S. Army Association (President Pete Seitz).
The ceremony began with an invocation by Captain Simon Moon, followed by the entrance of the color guard from PAVA World, marking the official start of the event.
The atmosphere turned solemn with Daniel Kim leading the U.S. national anthem and the Korean national anthem, followed by a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers. The event, emceed by Captain Mike Yoon of the 40th Division, featured opening remarks from Colonel (Promotable) David Chang of the 40th Division, Korea Army Association President Choi Man-kyu, and U.S. Army Association representative Pattie Mente, all expressing deep respect for the dedication of Korean War veterans.
Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kang Yoon-jin, delivered a message of gratitude and respect via a video tribute.
California State Senator Steven Choi encouraged both veterans and active-duty members of the 40th Division, mentioning that he himself had once served as an officer in the Republic of Korea Army.
U.S. Representatives Young Kim and Derek Tran also sent aides to express their appreciation for the Korean War veterans, veterans’ associations, and currently serving military personnel.
