The Ministry of Economy and Finance (Acting Minister: Lee Hyung-il) and KOTRA (President: Kang Kyung-sung) jointly hosted the “Midterm Report on Green Hydrogen Industry Development in South Africa under the 2024–2025 Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP)” and a “Hydrogen Project Partnership Seminar” in Seoul on July 4.
These events were part of the broader KSP initiative targeting South Africa and were held in conjunction with the Korea–South Africa Green Hydrogen Component & Equipment Industry Cooperation Seminar on July 3, and a planned field training program for South African delegates from July 7 to 9. Together, they form an integrated cooperation platform combining policy consultation and technology exchange in the hydrogen sector.
At the July 3 seminar, hosted by the Korea Hydrogen Alliance (Chairman: Kim Jae-hong), representatives from Korean companies specializing in hydrogen-related materials, components, and equipment, as well as public energy organizations, gathered in Seoul to share technological trends and explore collaboration opportunities with the South African delegation.
The midterm report session on July 4 brought together officials from five South African institutions: the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the Coega Economic Development Corporation (Coega EDC), and the National Energy Development Institute. From the Korean side, key participants included KSP Chief Advisor to South Africa Ahn Il-hwan, Korea University’s Industry–Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Korea Hydrogen Alliance, and KOTRA. Together, they reviewed the project’s progress and discussed next steps for cooperation.
