The Overseas Koreans Agency (Commissioner Lee Sang-deok) recently held a dialogue session to hear the voices of Koryoin youth—ethnic Koreans born and raised in Russia and CIS countries who later migrated to Korea with their parents—and explore ways to better support their educational needs.
The event, titled “A Conversation with Koryoin Youth Hosted by the Overseas Koreans Agency,” was held on July 4 at the Overseas Koreans Welcome Center, located on the 30th floor of Booyoung Tower in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.
Around 30 Koryoin high school students from Rodem Tree International Alternative School in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, took part in the session. The school is overseen by Chairman Soh Hak-seop.
Also in attendance were representatives from various organizations that support the education of Koryoin youth in Korea, including the Anseong Office of Education, Asia Development Foundation, Koryoin Global Network (KGN), Kyung Hee University’s Industry–Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Koryoin Youth Education Council, and ChildFund Korea.
