Starting June 17, more than 2,600 next-generation overseas Koreans from around 70 countries will visit Korea to participate in the “2025 Next-Generation Overseas Koreans Homeland Invitation Program,” designed to help them explore their cultural and historical roots.
Hosted by the Overseas Koreans Agency (Commissioner: Lee Sang-deok) and organized by its affiliated institution, the Overseas Koreans Cooperation Center (Director: Kim Young-geun), the program officially began with an opening ceremony held at the Hyatt Hotel on Yeongjong Island, Incheon. Approximately 240 participants from 26 countries attended the first session.
Over the course of a 6-night, 7-day itinerary, participants will visit key historical landmarks such as the Independence Hall of Korea and Seodaemun Prison History Hall to reflect on the 80th anniversary of Korean liberation and gain a deeper understanding of the nation's path to independence.
In addition to historical tours, the program includes visits to cutting-edge industrial sites that highlight Korea's economic development. Stops include the Samyang Ramen factory—famed for its globally popular "Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen," the Incheon Bio Cluster representing Korea’s biotechnology industry, and Hyundai Motorstudio showcasing the mobility sector.
This year’s program runs until August 17, with more than 2,600 next-generation overseas Koreans expected to take part throughout the duration.
