The Overseas Koreans Agency (OKA), led by Director Lee Sang-deok, has joined forces with Seoul National University of Education (President Jang Shin-ho) to increase public awareness of the overseas Korean community and strengthen educational programs for Korean identity among diaspora members. On November 11, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Seoul National University of Education headquarters in Seocho District, Seoul.
The MOU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including:
Enhancing Korean language education and capacity-building for overseas Korean schools,
Developing programs and educational collaborations to promote public understanding of overseas Koreans, and
Working to strengthen ties between Korean society and overseas Korean communities.
Through this partnership, the OKA aims to support overseas Korean schools, include diaspora education in Korean school curriculums, and expand awareness programs such as the “Visiting Overseas Korean Education” initiative targeted at elementary, middle, high schools, and universities in Korea.
Director Lee expressed his hopes that the partnership would not only advance the understanding of overseas Koreans through school curriculums but also encourage practical collaboration in fields such as Korean language schools and homeland visits.
