On November 6, Daejeon City’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Science, Jang Ho-jong, visited the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) in the United States, where he held talks with FCEDA President Victor Hoskins and signed a joint declaration. This visit follows the Fairfax County economic delegation’s recent trip to Daejeon, and it aims to solidify cooperation between the two regions in key economic and industrial sectors.
During the meeting, Daejeon City and Fairfax County agreed to collaborate on several initiatives: establishing the Daedeok Quantum Cluster, jointly developing quantum industry business models, and fostering Daejeon’s strategic industries, including space, defense, semiconductors, and biotechnology. The two regions also agreed to support Daejeon companies' entry into the U.S. market.
This joint declaration lays a foundation for expanding the ecosystem and enhancing the global competitiveness of Daejeon’s six core strategic industries. Moving forward, the two regions plan to detail specific projects to implement this partnership.
Furthermore, as market entry barriers to the U.S. are expected to increase for Korean companies, this cooperation offers local companies a valuable base for establishing a presence in the U.S.
