The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of Korea, together with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), held an opening ceremony on May 29 in Ulaanbaatar for the newly constructed Mongolia Tourism Training Center, in cooperation with Mongolia’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth and the Mongolian Tourism Organization.
The center is Korea’s first official development assistance (ODA) project in the tourism sector to build infrastructure abroad. More than just a training facility, the center aims to improve Mongolia’s tourism foundation and serve as a model for sustainable tourism development. The center’s construction took place over the past three years, encompassing both design and building stages.
Due to high expectations from the Mongolian government since the early phases, the opening ceremony saw the attendance of top-level officials including Nomin, Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, and Tuvshinjargal, President of the Mongolian Tourism Organization, who celebrated this new chapter of Korea-Mongolia cooperation in tourism education.
The Mongolian government announced that the center would be a cornerstone in boosting the country’s tourism competitiveness. As part of the opening event, Mongolia unveiled its phased tourism policy roadmap and the new national tourism brand, Go Mongolia 2.0.
