Sunchon’s iconic tourist sites, including the Suncheon Bay National Garden, Suncheon Bay Wetland, and Naganeupseong Folk Village, have gained significant attention after being selected for the “Top 30 Scenic Spots in Korea,” a list jointly curated by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA).
The “Top 30 Scenic Spots in Korea” were chosen by Korean product experts from Japanese travel agencies, who considered factors such as accessibility, nearby tourist attractions, and regional representative foods. In the Honam region, Sunchon has 3 spots, while Yeosu, Jeonju, Wanju, and Jinan each have 1.
The Suncheon Bay National Garden is a nature-based garden that integrates eco-friendly design, and features cultural content using animation and webtoons. It has become a popular space where visitors of all ages can enjoy and relax.
The Suncheon Bay Wetland is home to half of the world’s endangered species of cranes, such as the black-headed crane, and is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, showcasing the ecological and cultural value of Suncheon.
Additionally, Naganeupseong Folk Village, which has preserved a traditional Joseon-era village, offers a chance to experience historical houses and cultural heritage.
